Politiurgist is a word created by my Classics PhD housemate Richard to keep me from using "urbanomancer", which wounded him by both mixing linguistic roots and not meaning what I wanted it to mean. As I understand the explanation "politiurgist" is derived from Greek for one who works magic using cities (as an instrument), while an urbanomancer mixes Greek and Latin roots, and refers to one who uses cities for divination (in the place of reading entrails or tea leaves).
